Spend a day with someone who lives here.
Native Treks pairs travelers with locals who know a corner of Norway well and like to share it. One local, one outing, eight guests at most.
The idea
Most visitors see Norway through a window. The best parts are a short ride from the city, with people who go there every weekend.
Plenty of people here have a place they know by heart. A spruce forest where the chanterelles come up every autumn. A ski loop that ends at a cabin selling waffles. A spot by the lake where they always light a fire.
They're not guides. They just love it, and they're good at it.
Native Treks lets them take a few travelers along. You don't get a tour. You get their Sunday.
The kind of thing a host might share
- Mushroom picking in a spruce forestLate summer and autumn. A basket, a knife, and someone who knows which ones to leave.
- A Sunday ski tour that ends at a fireWinter, on the trails at the edge of the city.
- Ice fishing on a frozen lakeWinter. A drill, a short rod, a thermos, patience.
- A swim in the fjord, then the saunaAll year, if you're up for it.
- Coffee boiled in a kettle over the fireAny season. The Norwegian way to end a walk.
How it works
If you're visiting
For anyone who wants more from a trip than the sights.
- 1
Pick an outing
Each one is run by one local. You'll see who they are, what you'll do, where you meet and what to bring.
- 2
Book a spot
Groups stay small, eight guests at most, so there's room to talk and ask questions.
- 3
Meet your host
Usually at a metro or bus stop. Dress for the weather. They'll take it from there.
- 4
Go home with a story
And maybe a new favourite place you'd never have found alone.
If you live here
For people with a place, a skill or a habit worth sharing.
- 1
Tell us what you do
A short form below. What the outing is, where it happens and when you usually go.
- 2
We have a chat
A call or a coffee in Oslo, so we understand your outing and you understand us.
- 3
Set it up your way
You choose the dates, the group size and your own price.
- 4
Take people out
Do what you'd do anyway, with a few curious people along.
Your ordinary Sunday is someone's whole trip.
We're looking for our first hosts in and around Oslo. You don't need to be a guide. You need a place you love and the patience to show it to someone new.
What we look for
- You know a place or a skill well, and you'd go there anyway.
- You enjoy having a few strangers along.
- You can keep a small group safe outdoors.
- You're happy to explain things in English.
The first outings open soon.
Leave your email and we'll write when there's something to book. That's it.
